I bought a copy of PSP: A Self-Improvement Process for Software Engineers (paid link) by Humphrey Watts because I wanted to learn the Personal Software Process (PSP) on my own. I thought the book would have everything I needed to do that but the links to the programming exercises (aka assignment kit) in the book are dead.
No problem, I thought, I’ll just find them myself. Wrong. After a couple of hours of searching the internet, I still hasn’t found the PSP programming exercises. So, I finally asking for help on a forum and David Tuma was kind enough to point me in the right direction.
As of July 19, 2018, this is how you can find the PSP programming exercises:
- Go to https://www.sei.cmu.edu/tsp/tools/
- Click the link for “Self-Study PSP Material”
- Click the “View Educational Materials” link that appears on the right-hand side of the page near the top
- Fill out the form to request the download
- The Software Engineering Institute will send you the download link by email. Click on the link to download the zip file
Here are those steps again with screenshots:
- Go to https://www.sei.cmu.edu/tsp/tools/
- Click the link for “Self-Study PSP Material”
- Click the “View Educational Materials” link that appears on the right-hand side of the page near the top
- Fill out the form to request the download
- The Software Engineering Institute will send you the download link by email. Click on the link to download the zip file
I hope this helps.
Thank you! I’m not very happy with the SEI for screwing up the links that were published in a book.
You’re welcome. That’s why I wrote it in a bit post. I’m sure it was just an oversight on their part.
